About Enzo Ybarra

I’m Enzo Ybarra, a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Los Angeles.

My work exists somewhere between instinct and intention—where drawing, fashion, objects, photography, pattern, color, and everyday life collide. I call my visual language Doodlism, a practice I began developing in 2005 that grew from the simple act of drawing into a world of its own.

Doodlism is less about following a fixed set of rules and more about allowing ideas to move freely. Lines become characters. Characters become stories. Patterns become garments. Ordinary objects become canvases. What begins as a doodle can become a painting, a piece of clothing, a photograph, a sculpture, or something that doesn’t quite have a category yet.

My creative practice is rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and the belief that art doesn’t have to behave itself.

I work across disciplines as an artist, designer, pattern maker, seamster, florist, and maker. Each discipline gives me another way to translate an idea from my imagination into something tangible.

I’m interested in the spaces between things—beauty and chaos, fashion and art, function and absurdity, memory and invention. My work is deeply connected to my experiences, my surroundings, and the visual language I’ve been building throughout my life.

I don’t see Doodlism as simply a style.

I see it as a way of looking.
